Looks like police of Aligarh is having shortage of funds (money for chai pani) so what they do is stand on road side and check all the papers of every vehicle passing by. It’s obvious that not everyone will be having all the papers which include registration, insurance, license etc and they have a chance of asking money for letting you go. Yesterday I was going with my mechanic to buy that rubber paint and they caught me and I had no papers! I took one of the constables in corner and asked of how to get rid of this problem now. He smiled and said to talk with the driver of police wan. I talked to him and at last he came to his point and asked for Rs.150 (about 4$). I asked him if he had a change of Rs.50 and he shamefully said yes. I gave him Rs.200 and he was quick to handover the change, I thanked him and went away. This small bribe saved me from the hassle of challan and saved time as well. However I will now carry all the original papers from now and then see, but I know I’ll have to pay the bribe every time they check because they point out some or the other mistakes in your paper and they know everything is right but for money they do it. I can remember once I had all the papers but the cop said that registration paper looks fake! (though it was not). But today when I was going with my friend Waseem to see his center for his exam, again they caught us and luckily this time Waseem did had his driving license with him. They however fined for not having other papers. While police men were doing their job and telling us to carry papers always, we were happy to have some stuff for blog LOL!

I went to market today for purchasing something and as usual I speeded up a bit more and I didn’t saw that there was a police jeep besides the road, it was hidden by some group of people and I look more at road in front so I didn’t noticed. But as I passed at full throttle, I noticed the white jeep of police and now there was no time to slow down I a accelerated even fast so that they can’t see me or note my number. Usually police here don’t start a pursuit but my friend told me few days back that a white police jeep chased him for long for driving fast. Luckily they didn’t follow me, yay after all I ride Yamaha!!

Watch this video of truck which first starts tilting towards left and then falls. In this case driver could have stopped the truck from falling by immediately lowering the speed and steering towards right to take the right side of the vehicle back on road. He could also leave his seat and come to right side so that his weight may help in bringing the vehicle in stable state.

The road in front of my house is one of the best road in Aligarh (bikers delight) as its straight with no path holes and speed breakers. There is not much traffic either but as many people increase their vehicle speed here, accidents do happen and yesterday evening it was a major one. Two bikes coming from opposite direction collapsed, one was on Bajaj Discover who didn’t got hurt much and managed to ran away from the accident spot but the second person who was on Splendor was badly hurt. When I went running outside my house hearing the huge bang, I saw that splendor (still engine running) at roadside but person was no where to be found. But as I went close to the bike I saw his face, he was trapped below his bike and was fainted so cannot move. I immediately got the bike off from him and called some more people to get his to hospital as soon as possible. Luckily one guy who knew this man was also passing by and he immediately informed his relatives. Lesson we get here that one must never mix drinking and driving. Driving slow can also avoid major accidents.

A Neem tree fell off itself without any warning which was in front of my house. The good thing is that nobody was injured as the road is quite busy but when the tree fell, no one was going. The point is, there was no wind, no rain and nothing as such which could result in its fall but it does fell making loud cracking sound. I think it’s the job of termites then. |
